The European Beaver is a well established host on the French rivers. Yet, the animal has reached the brink of extinction and only owes its survival to changes in approach to environmental protection. Hunted and disturbed for centuries, the beaver makes a triumphant return, both in our countryside and near cities. His work as an architect creates a favourable environment for biodiversity and his presence contributes to the preservation of many species. But the constructions of the river engineer disrupt human activities. In order not to reproduce the mistakes of the past, beavers and men must today learn to live together.

The biodiversity crisis is one of the most critical issues on the planet. Prompt diagnoses are needed to stop the species’s extinction. One threatened species is the spur-thighed tortoise in Morocco. However, determining the presence or absence of this species in the wild is very challenging even with the most advanced technological equipment and experimented researchers. To save the species, science needs those who know better the secrets of the land: The shepherds.
